Mais Nejat, un jeune professeur d'allemand, se prend d'affection pour Yeter lorsqu'il apprend qu'elle envoie son argent \u00e0 sa fille en Turquie pour financer ses \u00e9tudes. Lorsque Yeter trouve la mort dans une dispute avec Ali, Nejat prend ses distances avec son p\u00e8re. Il se rend \u00e0 Istanbul dans l'espoir d'y retrouver la fille de Yeter, Ayten. Au m\u00eame moment, Ayten arrive \u00e0 Hambourg \u00e0 la recherche de sa m\u00e8re et fait la connaissance de Lotte, une \u00e9tudiante allemande qui est imm\u00e9diatement attir\u00e9e par le charme et l'engagement politique de la jeune Turque. Lotte propose m\u00eame \u00e0 Ayten d'habiter chez elle, bien que sa m\u00e8re Susanne \u00e9mette de nettes r\u00e9serves. Sili, 12 ans, qui a une proth\u00e8se de jambe, quitte chaque jour sa banlieue pour aller mendier en ville et ainsi nourrir sa famille. Un jour, elle d\u00e9cide d'arr\u00eater de mendier et de vendre elle aussi des journaux. Lorsqu'elle arrive au d\u00e9p\u00f4t de journaux, les gar\u00e7ons se montrent hostiles \u00e0 son \u00e9gard et la menacent m\u00eame au d\u00e9but. Seul un jeune vendeur de journaux nomm\u00e9 Babou prend sa d\u00e9fense. D\u00e8s le premier jour, Sili parvient \u00e0 vendre tous ses journaux et \u00e0 gagner ainsi beaucoup d'argent. Mais personne ne veut croire qu'elle a gagn\u00e9 cet argent de mani\u00e8re honn\u00eate. C'est ainsi qu'un policier l'emm\u00e8ne au commissariat, o\u00f9 Sili parvient \u00e0 se d\u00e9fendre toute seule. Lorsqu'elle quitte le commissariat, elle distribue son argent aux enfants et aux femmes de la rue. C'est alors qu'elle retrouve Babou, qui l'aide une fois de plus \u00e0 affronter des gar\u00e7ons hostiles. C'est le d\u00e9but d'une grande amiti\u00e9 entre Sili et Babou.
