Lene (Nina Kunzendorf), employ\u00e9e de l'Agence juive et vieille amie, ram\u00e8ne la bless\u00e9e dans son ancien pays, Berlin. Nelly y subit une op\u00e9ration du visage. Lene veut \u00e9migrer avec elle en Palestine, mais Nelly pr\u00e9f\u00e8re rechercher son mari non-juif, Johnny (Ronald Zehrfeld). Elle ne tarde pas \u00e0 le retrouver, mais il ne reconna\u00eet pas Nelly. Il a cependant l'impression de se souvenir de son \u00e9pouse et propose \u00e0 celle qu'il ne conna\u00eet pas d'endosser le r\u00f4le de sa femme afin de toucher l'h\u00e9ritage de sa famille assassin\u00e9e pendant l'Holocauste. La femme de retour au pays accepte et incarne d\u00e9sormais son propre double.
